Hearing fetal heartbeat with a stethoscope

I had heard that after 20 weeks we should be able to hear Blueberry's heartbeat with the small side of a regular stethoscope. Luckily, I have one from my days on the ambulance crew, so every once in a while we check to see if we can hear anything, but we spent a lot of time just moving the chestpiece around and listening to the sounds of digestion. (Lovely, I know.) This morning I grabbed the stethoscope off the nightstand before I got out of bed and on the first try, I heard that unmistakable sound. I was surprised that we could hear it so clearly! What a fun way to start the day!

  3. Thanks, guys! It was really cool to hit that milestone! Of course, I also learned that it's not always a guarantee that we'll find it--I tried a couple more times yesterday to find it and couldn't hear it. Oh well...it's kicking me enough to let me know that it's still alive in there!
