At my school we have a "What are you reading?" contest, which involves sending an e-mail to everyone at the school talking about what you're reading. I sent a message saying that I'm reading a silly "chick lit" novel, and also "What to Expect When You're Expecting," which you may remember from a previous post--it was one of the books that Nick and Carey left on our porch.
Within minutes, I received responses from my coworker friends, a few of them saying "DON'T READ THAT BOOK, IT'S GARBAGE!" One suggested Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy, and another friend suggested the Mayo Clinic Book of Pregnancy. So now I'm on a mission to get my hands on these books at a good price.
I just think it's funny how so many people jumped in and said, "Don't read that book!" when I mentioned the What to Expect book. And at the same time, other people said it's one of the best books they've ever read. I appreciate getting tips from my friends. I haven't gotten sick of it--yet! It's especially helpful that a lot of these friends have had kids very recently or are pregnant now. I take each piece of advice I receive and then make a decision based on my personality. I mean, I'm already blazing my own trails since I'm planning a home birth, so obviously I don't listen to what everyone says! :)
Thanks everyone, for your suggestions! Now I need to go shop for books!
