I'm getting ready to head out the door and get together with a friend, but if I don't blog about this now I'll forget to do it later...
As word is getting out that we're expecting, a lot of people are e-mailing and calling (or asking me directly) to confirm, and one of the first questions out of their mouths is, "Was it planned."
It's happened more than once, and I have to admit that I was picking my jaw up from the floor when I heard (or read) that. First of all, it's none of anyone's business whether it was planned or not, but to make it very simple, here are a few facts:
1) We've been married for SIX years.
2) We have done all of the traveling that people always say they wish they had done before they had kids. And when I say traveling, I mean: California twice, Vegas twice (one of those trips was an extension of a California trip), Florida, Virginia twice, Italy and Greece in 2005, England and Scotland in 2008. We've also made numerous trips to Ohio and one to Texas.
3) We are in love with each other, we respect each other, and we share very similar philosophies on raising children.
4) We're both over 30--I'll be 31 and Chris will be 32 this month.
I've been asked a lot of weird, sometimes pretty inconsiderate things, but I think this is the one that's burned my cookies the most. So far...

Get ready Kelly, these burnt cookies are just preparation for the other burnt batches (lol). Most of the time, people mean no harm, we just don't think before we insert foot. Being pregnant makes you a target for conversation and your wavering emotions aren't going to help either. Stay strong!
ReplyDeleteKelly, the above comment is from MW. My son must have forgotten to sign out. Sorry! One day I'll get a laptop and it'll be ALL MINE (lol).
