Used breast pump

There's someone on Craigslist selling a used Medela breast pump (which one of my friends said is THE BEST) for $75. I'm very tempted to jump on it because it's better than spending $300, and it's really not something I want to register for and open in front of a bunch of ladies at my shower.

What do you think--would you buy a used breast pump?

  1. I've borrowed breast pumps before I got my own so, I would say that a used one wouuld be OK, just sanitize it well before using it. I've tried the electric and the manual pumps but, I've always liked the manual ones better but, I also know many women who've used the Medela pump and have liked it. Just my opinion, I would register for a manual breast pump, too because they are a little more discreet, especially if you'll be pumping at work. The electric or battery operated ones can be noisy.

  2. I e-mailed the person selling the pump and told her I'm interested in it. We'll see if I get a call or an e-mail back! (Fingers crossed!)

  3. Well, I'd say go manual, pumping in general is strange at first but fun once you get the hang of it! Yes you can get a used one but, remember this is one of those first things and for me I got mine brand new out the box(that's just me:)
We all laughed at the shower when I opened up my breast pump:) The ladies thought it was as great and needed as diapers!

  4. Cool! I would say go for it! Let us know if you get it! :)

It is weird to open at showers? It seems like it would be a needed thing maybe, I dunno... haha. That's funny to picture though. But hey... it's like getting lingerie at a family bridal shower from your best friend invited to attend.

  6. I think my husband is going to meet up with the lady on Tuesday. (What a man, huh? Willing to go and buy a breast pump for me! He's the best!)

Most people probably wouldn't be embarrassed to open a breast pump at a shower, but I'm a bit of a private person and don't know as I'd enjoy discussing that topic in front of 40 ladies!

(I'm trying to overcome some of my squeamishness about things like this. I actually surprised myself by posting this in my blog in the first place, but I love my group of supportive ladies and didn't think y'all would mind!)

I didn't have a bridal shower, but I would have been mortified if I had opened lingerie in front of family members.
