Back to work today, and my pregnancy is the discussion topic in a class!

Today we were back to work after our swine flu vacation. (FYI--the kid's case of swine flu was confirmed, so they weren't just overreacting, he really was infected!) It was pure chaos because I had to scramble to make up for the time I lost due to being out for two days. I know it's kind of weird, but I sort of like it when things are a little on the crazy side. People were in good spirits and incredibly supportive, so that makes all the difference in the world.

I'm becoming quite a star in my school. A couple teachers stopped me in the hallway and asked how I'm doing. They said that it's definitely obvious that I'm pregnant (even though I'm still small enough to fit into my regular jeans if I "suck it in" a little bit because before there was nothing there (their words). One student walked by and said, "How's your pregnancy going?"

Later in the day, one of my seniors approached me and said, "Are you noticing that a lot more people know you're pregnant? If they are, it's because you were the topic of discussion in government class today. We were talking about how stressful your job is and whether that's good for you and the baby." I was some weird combination of embarrassed and flattered, I think. I mean, it was cute that they were talking about me, but also a little...weird...that they were talking about me. I was thinking, 'At least they realize that my job is stressful!' I felt somewhat validated by that!

Also, a friend of mine at work gave me a HUGE bag of maternity clothes. I mean H-U-G-E! I could barely carry it, it was stuffed so full! And the stuff is so cute!!! I'm definitely going to have fun with these clothes, and I'm so grateful for her kindness! People have been so generous with me, it's really been incredible!

  1. Blueberry has always been a popular flavor (smile). Have fun with the attention; it'll increase as Blueberry grows!
