The Registry

We started a registry very early in the pregnancy. In fact, we started it the day we heard the heartbeat for the first time, right around 11 weeks. Other people who were in there starting their registries were clearly very pregnant, even more than I am right now. (Well, to be honest, I haven't quite reached that "clearly pregnant" stage. It's just that the people at work are used to me being very thin and now it's quite apparent that I've developed a bit of a bulge. People who don't really know me would probably not even play the "F or P" game on me.)

It seems like I hear a lot of people waiting until they're 25 or 30 weeks pregnant. It's kind of weird that I appear to be "ahead of the curve" because I'm not typically much of a planner. We've been working on this process for a couple months now, but there's a reason we're putting so much work into this. We're shopping around to find the products we need and the best prices. I really don't want a bunch of stuff that I don't need, which is why I probably won't be registering for things like a bottle warmer and other items that I just think are a waste of plastic. (Don't even get me started on wastefulness!) Once we find the item we want, we check the three main places we have registries (Target, Babies R Us, and Wal Mart) and find the best price on the item, and we register for it wherever we see the best price.

We also got a book of coupons from Babies R Us in the mail the other day, and Chris typed up the codes so that if people wish to shop for us (or for anyone else) online, they can save money with the codes.

It's kind of fun being a thrifty shopper!

  1. Thrifty is the way to go. I don't know why people feel that the more expensive an item cost will make it work any better. It's best to get started now because as you get later in your pregnancy, you may or may not feel more tired and may not want to do anything. Do what you got to do.

  4. I was talking to my mama yesterday and was telling her how we're working on the registry and how I'm stressed about the guest list for the shower my aunts are throwing for me. She said skip the registry for now and just work on the guest list! But I guess she's right...once I get the guest list out of the way, I can concentrate "full-time" on the registry. After all, the shower will come before the baby does!
