Chris and I love biking. Last summer we had a goal of biking 40 miles a week, but we liked it so much we upped our goal to 50. Our typical ride was 12-14 miles, and a couple times we did 20 miles.
This week has been absolutely gorgeous, so yesterday we took our first long ride. We did some riding in Virginia, but not too much. Anyway, I wasn't sure how well I'd do on a long ride, but we thought we'd give it a try because we really couldn't waste such great weather.
We got to the point where we could have taken the short loop or the long loop, and I felt good, so we took the long one. Besides being tired and a little stiff, I felt great after the ride. This morning, however, was a different story. My left leg (mostly in the quad area) hurt very much. (My right leg didn't hurt, which I thought was kind of weird, since both legs participated equally in the bike ride, but I also had surgery on my left knee, so that may have been part of the problem.)
I'm not big on taking medications when I'm not pregnant, so even though they say it's safe, I didn't want to take Tylenol for my leg. Thankfully, partway through the day the pain started to decrease. Now I feel alright, but I'm still taking a day off. Maybe tomorrow I'll be ready for another 12 miles. :)

You are sure better than me, girlfriend. I will admit I can't do it. I'm not an outdoorsy type of person, but I do love the nice weather. I would be the person at the end of each mile shoving you cups of water and gatorade and saying, "you can do it, you go girl!" Sorry about your leg pain though, and yes that is exactly what I meant about the graveyard comment. You crack me up.
ReplyDeleteGreat exercise; I love bike riding also. My husband and I enjoy our evening four mile walk. It's a good way to get quality time and exercise!
